Hey guys, found a guy who might have a 4 speed near me I could use.
I have a 1971 440 Charger with a 727 now.
Judging by this picture, will this tranny work on my car?

The guy says the bellhousing is from a 68. The transmission, however, he doesn't know.
Is a 4 speed more fun? I don't know.
Is this set up (bellhousing and trans) worth his asking price of $600?

Thanks guys!

That's is a 70-74 B/E tranny but they came with the aluminum bell housing for the 130T flywheel and 10.5" clutch. That looks like the iron housing for the 143T wheel and 11" clutch. They use different Z-bars too.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll just try to buy the trans only. What do you think of that price, $600 for both? Is that fair?

Depends on condition. If the trans has to be rebuilt, gears or shafts replaced, then might not be worth it. Just keep in mind that there are many more parts you will need to get to do a conversion and spend another $2-3k on top of the trans and bell if they are good. And then there's the labor..........There are several threads on the forum about 4 speed conversions.
