Looking for a 426 hemi magnesium oil pan for my '66/'67 NASCAR tribute project. Happy to pay or trade other hemi parts for one. Also open to other NASCAR oil pan options that aren't 1" off the ground.

I have a question for ya'

weren't those Dry Sump oil pans ?

like Cotton Owens 66 Charger ?
& RPM used in 65 Belvedere ?

just curious, I hadn't seen one in decades now

The oil pan Steve009 linked to is indeed dry sump and likely magnesium. The current motor is built with a wet sump but I will now convert it to the dry sump system which is what was run "back in the day" after we complete the build with the running/dyno'd motor. One new unknown at a time. It is just too difficult to pass up the opportunity to get the real and correct part.

Weight about the same as aluminum, but said to be stronger.
Magnesium was used on nose cases, on radial engines. Just don't want that stuff to catch fire...don't think anything will put it out.

Just for curiosity, how light is a magnesium oil pan in comparison to a stamped steel pan?
Old thread 2018

but

Not gonna' be much if any lighter than a stock 402 4qt 383/440 stamped steel pan
but benefits of a cast pan 'is better for sealing', pan rails
IIRC more volume, 1 -2 qts more (6 qts total), like the factory Hemi pan
but the Magnesium Pans has ribs on the bottom side, helps for cooling too...

Wonder if the O.P. got this on his car.

The dry sumps take a fabricated K-member I believe. There is such a thing as an early 64-? wet sump pan. They look sorta like a Milodon pan.

@odcics2 ??

This was from an old circle track stash. Not sure if this is homemade or a real one. I don’t see how this would work with a stock k-member either.
