Hello all, I'm sure this has been covered on here before but I couldnt find it. What's the typical spacing between the power steering pump belt and water pump pulley on a non ac 440? Mine is really close to the water pump pulley where it transitions from the pulley area to the snout, I might try a short belt that might give me a little more spacing. Does anyone have any good close up pictures? Thanks.

Sadly, there's about 100 different combos based on year, engine, body style, PS model, Alt model, etc.

A make/year your working on, and a pic of the setup you have would help a lot.

There is not much distance between the two. Somebody posted a picture and his PS belt hit the pump pulley, also a B motor, and I mentioned it and he replied the belt was loose causing the hit. I have a gen 2 hemi and it is the same way. Just keep PS belt tight and not a problem. Maybe do a search and you'll see it.

It's on a 70 gtx 440 with AC, I'm converting it to non Ac and bought the alternator bracket, alternator, water pump pulley, and crank pulley, everything looks to line up ok it's just that clearance is tight. I'll get some more pictures this evening. Thanks

Here's some pictures, I think I know what my problem is, the power steering pump pulley needs to move up a little, I laid a square across the front of the crank pulley and it sat a little in front of the power steering pump, I bet that's my problem. What do you guys think?

Once that belt seats in / breaks in and you adjust you will be on or very close to the water pump pulley.
I would go with the shortest belt you can get on it.

I see your point now.

Yeah, I've seen those belts clear under the snout of the fan pulley, but that looks like it touches. Can you moves the PS pump forward at all, even an 1/8th inch?

I think I should be able to put some washers or a spacer behind the bracket and get the pump moved out a little bit, it wont take much just a little to get it away from that edge where the snout starts.

I missed that, I was looking at the belt to pulley clearance.
