Hey guys I'm getting ready to install my rear main seal in my new 440 I'm building and have a few questions. I'm using the seals from 440 source including the blue side seals. My question is are you guys using silicone on these blue side seals to help them seal? I have offset the half seals and plan on using a small amount of anaerobic sealer on the ends of the half seals to help them seal. The instructions say just light oil on side seals and maybe light silicone on bottom were aluminum housing meets block. I've read some people add silicone as well with other seals such as mancini racings kit. I'm looking for info from anyone who's used these side seals from 440 source and how they have worked. I really only wanna do this once.

You're in for a bunch of different answers on this one!

I used the orange ones from 440 Source and followed the instructions to the letter. I didnt stray from the instructions with silicone or anything else. I also did the measuring requirements for the cap too. (Center and front to rear) Sorry I don't have that info right now. And I haven't fired it up yet either. (Fingers crossed)

This is what the seals look like only mine are blue apparently they can arrive in orange or blue but are the same. Has anyone tried these and how were the results? Thanks guys

I used a Felpro kit that came with a wick and a tube of RTV???? The directions stated to wet the wick, insert into the hole then fill with RTV. I'm assuming the wick helps cure the RTV, strangest thing I've seen but it never leaked.

Yup I believe with the felpro kit the wet sticks actually do help cure the rtv. I also have the felpro kit as it was included in a gasket set i got for the rebuild but was nervous about using that kit.
