Hi guys,

I bought aluminum 440 water pump housing, but need to buy plug for the biggest port on housing. I marked that port on the picture, so does anyone know what is the bolt dimension and thread for this port?

I am from Europe, so here I only have metric bolts, so I need to order it from USA and need to know exact dimension :(

Thanks a lot in advance.

I just bought one of them too but one of my heater hose nipples goes there. I believe a 3/8 pipe plug will work. Maybe someone else can confirm.

that's a 1/2" pipe thread. the two smaller holes are for heater hose connections and they are 3/8" pipe thread.

I just measured with my metric meter and it is about 181mm diameter, so it is not possible to be 1/2".

1/2" is 127mm diameter, so it is bigger than 1/2".

My plug is bigger in diameter, here you can see inch/mm conversion

My port hole is about 18.1mm but another two for radiator hoses are 1/2 I think.

the pump housings i have, old and new, are 1/2" pipe. in fact, i looked and checked a new alum housing before i posted my comments. this is a tapered pipe thread and possibly that is giving you a larger measurement,...?

I have a few 5/8" bolts and this hole is bigger than that, so it is definitely a lot bigger than 1/2" :)

Bolts are not the same what you are dealing with is pipe thread a whole different animal just use the link I sent you from ebay I just installed it

i just measured the smaller heater nipple threads and the larger temperature sensor threads with a metric caliper and they are larger than the 12.7mm your referring to. i think you might be misunderstanding "pipe thread". 1/2" would be the i.d. of the pipe and the o.d. would be closer to 3/4". i actually got 18+mm for the thread i.d. for the hole you had circled. the two smaller holes, 3/8" pipe thread, were 15+mm i.d.

You are right, I didn't know that there is a difference between two of them :)
So, 1/2" plug is the solution for me.
