I am starting with a cast crank RV 440 for a mild build in a B-body, as I have posted here previously. I need to swap to a car style water pump housing to get the inlet of the water pump to be on the same side as the radiator outlet (drivers side).

I was just told by someone that the water pump housing that I am looking for will not work with a cast crank damper and timing cover. Can anyone advise on what water pump housing I should be looking for?

Thanks again,
Jim

Should be fine. Not aware of any issues with timing covers or different dampers. If you have the RV motor with heads that have water inlets on the front, you need new heads.

I have seen left and right outlet water pumps on steel and cast crank motors. Nothing to worry about there.

All the big block timing covers are the same. Only difference might be the location of the timing tab. You might have to chase the correct pulleys for your app but there's plenty of them floating around.
