5G Sucks

I just upgraded my phone to a new 5G phone and I wish I had my 4G phone back. It dropsmore calls sitting still in my house than the old one ever did ridiculous.

Verizon is offering an Apple 27Q or some such ridiculous "does-it-all" phone thing, as an enticement for people to swap over to them. I have a competitor's LG 4G phone that works great...if I'm in the metro area or along the Interstate. Outside of that, it's a battery-powered POS that I can carry in my pocket. I think ALL of the cell companies are ****. Different ads claiming they are the most awesome-est around. Same crap.

I do NOT want 5G.

I live in Texas and lose coverage all the time. Yet when working in Africa in the middle of no where I have great coverage !

They have programmed the masses to always want the newest electronic gadget. Not the best way to go. I’m still stuck on 50+ year old cars and music

Well why not just dump the phone, and either get a lap top or desk top. Personally I do have a cell phone but rarely use it other then when I am away from home for a long period, and maps. Don't get online either. They are more a nuisance really and it amazes me I many people and users I see with them grafted to their ears or the nose stuck in them...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

I just upgraded to a 5g phone(iphone 13 pro max) and the download speeds are slower than my 4g iphone. I already called verizon to report the issue, maybe one day it will be resolved. The service is still 100% reliable but I am irritated the internet download speeds are slower. I remember 4g having the same issues when it first launched.

I kept my free 3G phone until it wouldn't load any of the animated weather RADAR feeds in 2018.

I'll keep my $99 4G phone until something similar happens.

I still have my old trusty Galaxie 3 , unsure of how many ( G)s I have.
Damn thing just keeps plugging along.

Edit..... got to love my wife, she just pointed out were it says 4G on the screen front. :D
I have 4Gs. Lol.

According to the guys in the video you have to go outside, perhaps in the middle of the street, especially for the highest speeds.

My 4g Samsung's battery started failing and replacing one is almost impossible now days. They are glued into the body of the phone. Some have had luck heating them up to separate the phone and replaced the battery but most of the time the phone is destroyed.

So you're forced to buy a new phone and replacing what you're used to leaves you no choice but to buy a 5g. So that's what I ended up doing. I really hate this new Android/Samsung. Google is locked into everything and there isn't any options in the settings to keep them out of your personal business like my old phone had. It's really aggravating to have them sending you messages about when certain bills are due because they are into your emails. Everything you do they want you to turn on your GPS. Even going on YouTube there's adds and notices for the area in which you live which shows they're tracking you.

There's so many things that these phones are doing to keep tabs on who, what and where is taking place in your personal life.

Yea, I know all about Duck Duck Go but they're not 100% either when it comes to your privacy. It's cheaper for me to use a "Smart" phone for my internet and other features. Paying for internet service, cable and phone can get rather expensive using other means in my area. So here I am with this tracking device.

****...hold a conversation near your phone without actually speaking to someone in a call. Moments later, there are plenty of ads for what you were talking to someone OFF the phone about! Who says these devices don't listen 24/7...unless you turn them OFF, which I do quite a bit.

A buddy of mine calls his Alexa "Wiretap", so when he says "Hey, Wiretap, what is blahblahblah..." it replies. His Alexa calls him "Imperial Leader Bob". His WiFi network is called "God", which I find a bit blasphemous, but whatever, right? Funny, but scary. Those damned "assistants" are nothing more than voluntary wiretaps/bugs people buy to install in their homes. I will never have that crap in my home. A cellphone or a game console is bad enough.

And don't get me started on the Internet of Things, or IoT! I don't need flippin' "smart" appliances, lights, and such. Anyone who needs to turn on the washer from across town from his phone is a freak.

The best I can get is LTE on my Apple 7 where I live so not sure what G that is.
Also as stated above these phones do listen to you.
Other day talking to my neighbor about him needing a new rear axle for his truck which is the same as mine and the next time I got on my computer all these adds for the same truck rear axles were on the side screen pop ups.
So I started just randomly talking about off the wall things with different neighbors who I let know what was happening and they all said they got adds for whatever we were talking about.

Buy a refurbished phone with a battery warranty. They usually replace the batteries in these phones. Amazon and Gazelle or eBay.

I bought my Mom, who lives alone by choice, an Amazon Echo so she could make use of reminders, check the weather, play her Southern Gospel, etc.

Mom forgets she has it and never uses it; she's 82.

I was looking at them right before my old phone took a dump. I had to have something right away so I went with one of the new ones I had researched. Just add it to my Verizon account, saved $400. It has one heck of a battery that can last for a couple of days with lots of use. Unreal technology in this phone...a little too much technology. That's what worries a person when owning one.

Sounds like my MOTO G Power. That thing will last a couple days on a charge but is a beast to lug around.
