I once owned a 63 max wedge 426, aluminum front end, bought it in Brookings, SD and sold it in Sioux City Iowa in summer of 1968 or 69. Car was silver/gray, ran mid 12's, raced sporadically, mostly in SD, MN, NB and Iowa. I have made a couple attempts to locate the car back in the 90's with no luck. Is there anyone out there that has data on the 63 max wedge cars that I can contact. There were only about 50 of these car produced, maybe there is a list of the survivors somewhere?

Actually I believe my book from Darrell Davis on them says they only made 39 Dodges and 40 Plymouth's with the aluminum front ends. They also made 10 more for Dodge and Plymouth for the parts to stock. I dont know if anyone has a record on the aluminum cars as I have not heard of anyone having traced them. Good luck , Ron

Well I can't imagine there was many around. I thought I had a picture but I cannot find it. Anyway "slowpoke" was a dark blue aluminum nose 63 dodge that ran at Thunder Valley. Yes , it is still in the area but hidden. Last ran with a 318 in it, hence the name.... It layed in a backyard in Sioux Falls for years. One fender is smashed up pretty good.

For what its worth. It appears by DD book there where 2 stage I automatic aluminum nose cars and five stage two aluminum nose 440 model dodges, 4 autos and 1 manual trans. That is if I read the book correct....

I am looking right at my DD book and it says a total of 39 aluminum front end Doges in 63. 22 were the standard Max Wedge cars and 17 were the Stage I or Ramcharger - A as Dodge called them. There were 5 high comp manual trans cars and 34 high comp auto's. Actually all aluminum front end cars are high comp cars. There were 5 high comp manual cars with one being the Stage I or Ramcharger - A. And there was 34 high comp auto cars with 18 of the normal Max Wedge cars and 16 were the Stage I/ Ramcharger - A. . Was it named "Slopoke" at some point?

we talked to the guy we bought the car from, his memory is not perfect either, this is what we learned:
he purchased car used in Aberdeen SD. Color was white. It had large lettering on both sides of the car, it was called "White Lightning"
