What's the largest (tallest) tire size to run on the 62-65 "B" bodies ? I just got a set of 15X6 steel wheels and I want to buy some tire & hubcaps. Thanks

I went with 15x7 magnums with radials P235 60's and surprised I still have room for more.

Back in the day I had L 60s on 15" rims with room for more on my 63 Savoy.

28" tall won't fit the front of a 62 unless you trim the front fender lip. 275/60 easily fit the rear.

Took a while before making a selection as I wasn’t sure what would fit going from 14 to 15. Friend has an auto shop and let me put the car on his alignment rack so I could take some measurements. Yeah, I’d like to have had a wider tire in the rear as there’s plenty of room. Wasn’t wanting a taller tire as it makes the wheel look smaller MO.

I run a 10x 28.5 slick and a 255/70x15 (29" tall) on my 62, but I've got the axle moved back an inch. I can run a 30x9 easily.
I can run a 29" tire on the front too (previous owner ruthlessly trimmed the front edge of the wheelwell).

A 255/70x15 is recommended for a 6 1/2"-up wheel (mine are on 8s), but I would give them a try.
Other choice for a tall tire for a six inch rim, would be a 235/75x15 29"tall (I have them on the front, on 7s, but like I said, my fender has been Trimmed!

Thank you all, I want four of the same size tires all the way around as I have torq-thrust on the front and 15X8 steelies on the back with a 9X30 slick for the track. 33IMP, are you saying that a 255/70-15 & 235/75-15 are the same O.D. ?

Pretty much, yeah. A taste over 29" for the 255, a tenth of an inch under 29 for the 235.

I put 285/70R15s on 15x8 4.5BS steelies on my '63 Savoy wagon - tight but it worked.
I narrowed the rear axle a bit, though.
Yes, the front wheel openings interfere with tall ft tires, more so on early Bs than later Bs.

I wanted to run the 285s on my 15x8 steelies, but they only have 4" backspace so I wimped out and got the 255s. 4 3/4 b.s. would have worked great on my car.

I still need dog dish hubcaps for the 63, I have the steel rims 15X6, anyone have some for sale ? Thanks

If your 15x6s are late model wheels, the original 1963 hubcaps won't fit. Early caps were 10", newer caps from 68-up are 9" centers.
