What's it Worth 65 Sport Fury 426 Max Wedge

I'll float a number. $28,800

Too many unknowns at this point in time.

There's the old saying, "buy the worst house in the best neighborhood".

This car is, "buying the best house in the the worst neighborhood"

The custom paint is a major distractor and being a 65 C-body is a distractor. Sure is very clean and has some super cool parts on it.

If it was a 318 gold on gold same condition, it's a $17-20K car. But it'd consider this car needing a repaint. Then subtract maybe 1/2 or 1/3 cost of repaint. Then add $10K for the parts (good condition usesd). Labor you don't get back. That will net out about $8-$10K ... $25K +/-

Yes, everyone will say it cool, neat, great to see... but when you ask those same people to fork over $33K... crickets.

It's a car that takes a patient buyer.

It’s a #2 car with a 440 max wedge package. I was thinking closer to 30-35k. I don’t think I could ever find a car like this for 25k.
Everyone will have a difference in opinion on what a car is worth. It looks to be a nice car, as others have said cars should be inspected in person before buying. If you can buy it in the 30-35k range. I would recommend you buy it, and start enjoying it. Be happy knowing you bought the car in the price range you felt is fair, and not worry what others think.

^^^^^^ that's a great answer. Call the engine 15k and the car 15k and that's a wrap. At a hell of a deal. Bonus is you get a way more solid car than a b body, and it's the lightest C

As with any car that has been restored, modded or otherwise for sale, IMO, you have to find someone that is willing to pay the asking price. Since they are only worth what someone else is willing to pay for them you are not dealing with a ton of people. Just because a person puts 50K into a build certainly don't make it worthy of that. All you can do is set a price and hope someone steps up.

In fact, I have the engine out again after these pics were taken: time for a line bore, new forged crank, and 30 over forged pistons.

That should be enough for now, I hope.

What unknowns should I be concerned with?

Rust repairs and "bondo"?
Floor replacements?
Rocker panel replacements?
Etc.
Max Wedge
What really is that engine?
What really are those heads?
What valve train?
Who did the engine work and what all did they do to it?

What are you buying if you buy it?

It might be a great car, but the Seller's ad seems like a partial rehash of old (ancient) info from a prior owner, but the seller now has included his own pictures.

The winning bid on this one was $24,200 around 2 years ago.

Does the seller have the title?
Is it a clear title? No lein, No rebuilt, etc.
Have the seller email you a picture of the tag that's mounted on the left fender well.
Maybe he'll email you a picture of the VIN plate?
