Has anyone ever tackled these? Not sure what material they are, some kind of steel, obviously. Going to attempt to polish and guess if that fails maybe chrome plating? Love to hear experiences.

Those are chrome plate. A lot of times you can make them look decent removing the rust with #0000 steel wool. Yours look pretty rusty though so that might not work if there's no chrome left under the rust.

Thanks, yes. Way past 0000. I had to use a flap wheel and start polishing up to 180 in the pic of the end. Still has pits. Odd that they are chrome plated like the rest of the headliner trim, but only these pitted and discolored. The rest was great and polished up like new.

It's too bad they didn't make those parts stainless. I would look through the for sale section or place a wanted to buy ad on the site. I've bought a set here before. A lot cheaper to find a decent set compared to rechroming unless you're doing a concourse restoration.

I’ve been looking, most are sold or few year old ad. Nothing local or on eBay. I appreciate the suggestion.

I’m dealing with the same scenario but on the interior pieces. Chrome is way too expensive so I’m stripping them then powder coating them. So many colors and sheens to choose from, something has gotta look decent and for far less money.

I had them stripped and epoxy primed, being interior pieces that never get touched or really even exposed to the elements, I decide to wrap them in vinyl chrome. I am also going to shoot 2k clear over a test piece to see how it looks. The chrome I am using is frog chrome vinyl that is used to wrap vehicles and offers uv protection.

Post pics when they're done, I may go down that road as well.
