Hi Folks, I did a search here on the site and tried Google and could not find much help. I am reassembling the steering column. A bit stuck on how to install the Turn Signal Handle and those pieces just below the steering wheel. I have looked at the FSM and not a lot of help there, or I have not yet figured it out. Here are the pics.

So the questions. I have "found" neutral on the Turn Signals using the small "sliders" top and bottom on the plastic housing on the left side of the steering column. I suspect that the gasket goes next and then the Plastic piece in the pic with the Turn Signal Handle. I have tried and can line up the handle into the left side of the column and can line up the screw that will hold it it. Where I am having troubles is that Plastic Piece in the pic with the turn signal handle, and how it goes on?? It seems to me that it should go on top of the "gasket" and line up the small sliders that actuate the current into the turn signals.

Here is a shot of that plastic piece on the other side (I am guessing this is the "down" side?). It looks like there are two slots just top and below the oblong hole that would line up with the "actuators" that direct the current? As well, there are two small pegs near the top and bottom edge that I would think goes into the notches on the top and bottom of the plastic inside the steering column? If so, will the oblong hole then go onto and settle down on the "Cam" where the screw goes to hold on the Turn Signal Lever? Finally, is there a washer that should go in that indentation with the screw that holds the lever in? Thanks for your help. I just do not want to break anything trying to force it working on trial by error. Best to all, B.

does this help? Better put a little white grease on that horn contact roller

Thank you very much. Mine is a bit different, as it seems a lot is on this car, but I think I get the gist. I do not have the Red and White Elec hook ups, wonder what you have that I do not? But, it looks like you have the pegs going down and that is what I expected to see and now will work on it. Thanks for the tip on horn contact roller. It has undergone a clean up and will get a smug of dialectic grease as will some of the other parts, after clean up. Best, Brian

OK, so I fought this thing like I was in the WWE, but needed to play with it like a surgeon. Finally I found on this site a pic on another string that gave me confidence in what to do. So, I will repost that pic from JimCoronet in case someone has the same experience as me. What happened is when I took out apart the Steering Column, the top of the Turn Signal Switch came off when I took off the Turn Signal handle. I did not make pics and did not make good notes at the time to get it back together. The top is NOT meant to come off, but somehow it did in my case. The good news is that the small actuators that actually run the turn signals did not fall out. How or Why??? The big guy was looking down on me on that one. So, one has to line up the actuators just right to get the top back on what fits on the Central Arm. Here is the Pic of a NOS that Jim put on the site and that gave me the courage to work it till I got the thing on correctly. As it turns out, what I figured in the first post is what needed to happen. Sooo, if this happens to you, pick a CALM time and good luck getting everything lined up. Thanks now to Jim. Mine has Steel underneath, but otherwise, it looks just like this. Best to you all, B.
