66 Coronet rear interior panel help

What's the best way to remove the felt seal from the rear interior panels? I am getting ready to clean them up and paint them. Thanks.

Pry up or snip off the ends of the staples. when you go to put the new ones back on I recommend using small rivets.

I think those staples are reproduced, but in the past I’ve used a small pop rivet and daubed a little black paint on the heads. Really not noticeable, just make sure they don’t contact the glass.
