66 satellite question

In 1966 did they make a satellite GTX. I went and looked at a satellite and it looked to be original. On the trunk on the rh corner above the chrome filler panel it said satellite GTX which looked orig to car. It was a 383 car with alot of options a/c pb pw bucket seat console shift 150 speedo, it had holes for chrome side moulding, no tach and no trim or anything on the hood. Is it a legit car

No GTX in 66, No 383 ever in a GTX(factory). Best bet is to start with a VIN Number, post it here and someone will correctly ID it, Pictures are also helpful. There is a vast resource of knowledge here and a great bunch of helpful guys !

I think VIN for Satellite should start with "RP" while GTX would be "RS".

In 66 383 was "G" in the 5th digit. I think 440 was only in Chryslers in 66.

In 67 383-2 barrel was "G" and 4 barrel was "H". I think 440 was "L".

You could have a 383 Satellite with a GTX badge.

A factory 4 barrel car with a/c and p/w would be cool (literally)!

67 was the first year for GTX...They made 12,000 of them...The fewest of all the years...Less than 500 came withe the 426 as that was an option...Even fewer than that were drop tops....With less than 70 drop top hemi cars....My 67 gtx is from the first 3000 made..RS on the vin is a GTX,RH is a satellite!!!
I,d rather push my PLYMOUTH than drive a ford!!!
