Hello. I I am fairly new to the car world and don’t know very much about diagnosing or solving electrical issues. So any help that you can give is greatly appreciated!

I am having an issue with my headlights were they will operate fine two or three times on a fresh battery but then they stop working.

My charging system is testing fine. I have found that I have constant power going to the headlight relays. Is this correct or could I possibly have a faulty switch or wrong wire?Because I think the relay is just overheating and shutting itself off… Do they do that?

There is also a constant click that comes from behind the dash on the left side of the steering wheel....it almost sounds like the turn signal indicator working but a lot slower. The clicks are spaced out about 5 seconds. Sounds like something is getting power then losing power, then getting it and losing it, and so on. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Brian

Contact Chris McGinnis. He specializes in the Gen I Charger electrical operation, along with doing Great Repair & Restoration on Late Model Mopar wiper motors. His contacts are " topher@headlightmotorman.com " or call him at 980-329-5938.

The clicking is likely a thermal breaker behind the kick panel. I've had a bad wiper motor cause the clicking

Is that the little (20/30?) amp breaker that's screwed onto the frame? I thought that thing was for the headlights. ? I am having an issue with my wipers as well, they will sporadically work a couple times then fail. The motor tests fine and the switch tests fine. All the connections seem right as well. Any ideas on what the issue is?...other than i shouldn't be working on cars apparently :)

sharing a few photos
getting to know each other etc.
not a Q&A tech section

Oh crap, I’m sorry. Sorry everybody. Thanks for the welcome. I’ll put the question in the right spot.

Welcome, sorry didn't notice the category earlier.
1st generation chargers are challenging.

Also, clean ground wire behind headlights, on driver's side core support, pass rear engine, and battery to engine. I also took apart and cleaned multi plug connector near battery, and on the fire wall.

Do the motors get smoking hot before they fail? Also, a bad cell in a battery can show itself after a load, but pass a old style carbon pile test
