Just bought a factory console tach for my 67 R/T....one catch...it has no internals. So I have a few questions if I can ge some help and advice from you guys experienced with these. First, any idea as to what size modern tach I can use to retrofit into this (or what company can I send it to to do this?) since an original would be extrmemely expensive or even impossible to find. Seems an aftermarket would possible be easy enough to install into the housing....

Second, is there any way I can get a picture or size and or exact location of the mounting hole in the console top. I have searched high and low but I cant find any pictures of a console without the tach installed to get an idea of it's location. Not quite sure either about the exact mounting method of this since the one I bought doesn't include the spring or plastic base on the bottom of the tach so I am going to have to fabricate something to mount this.

Thanks guys!

If you take your console off, the underneath side will have punchout holes to accomodate for the tach. Not sure about the guts of it though. I'm in the same boat. I purchased a tach from a swapmeet last year and didnt realize that 66 and 67 were very different on the inside, even though they were the same on the outside. One needed an extra set of electronics that sat outside of the tach. yada yada yada. So now it sits on my desk in all of it's glory. Like the most expensive paper weight of all time until I find a good solution.

Thanks for the link Pops1967GTX, some interesting stuff there.... gonna go look under the console right now Smartpatrol, surely it can't be that easy for the location? :hello2:

....just checked, yup you are definitely correct, cutouts on the bottom!
