I have a 67 Coronet and it has had the rear shackles changed out to some extra long aftermarket ones. I have bought new leaf springs and would like to mount the rear in the factory position. Would anybody be able to tell me the measurements on a stock shackle from centre on the top hole to the centre on the bottom hole where the leaf spring is bolted on.

Thanks
Bruce

Just be advised that " 2 plates with bolts through them" is not the same as an actual shackle

Could you explain a little. All the rear shackles that I have seen like the one you posted just look like two metal brackets with rubber bushing in between. There does not seem to be any solid connection between the two brackets. Is there a steel bushing inside the rubber bushings?

Right now mine just have a large bolt that just fits through the rubber bushing. No room for a steel bushing.

Thanks
Bruce

OEM shackles were welded in bolts with rubbers sandwiched between the loose vertical link. No bushings. Far superior to loose bolt designs.

And, the bolts are shouldered so you can tighten them up properly without squashing the rubber.
Removing the side to side " homemade shackle slop"

So the ones you posted have the welded bolts on them and have the shoulder up high so you can't over tighten against the rubber bushing?

Correct welded in shoulder bolts.
Extra long shackles can cause poor handling car.

That's correct. If you look at post #7, there's 2 pieces to the shackle.
