I’ve been contemplating the refinishing of the interior metal door surfaces and rear upper panels on my 67 GTX with metallic red upholstery. My trim tag has a Q under u. From the 67 color charts below I found on another thread I assume this is QQ1 dark metallic red - correct? What do the additional Q and 1 represent? Metallic content? Final polish? Anything significant from just plain old Q? The exterior finish chart might explain it but it’s too blurry to read easily.

From this I assume on original cars the metal door surfaces were noticeably darker than the mettalic red upholstery panels.

I may have found my answer. Apparently the 1 means single tone versus 2 for two tone. I’m guessing the second Q is the top (roof) color.

Lower body = Q
Upper body = Q
1 = Single Body Color
The Q under the U = Body Color on the inside of the doors and Upper rear panels.

All of these materials are original, nothing redone or replaced.
1967 door and panel
1966 Satellite carpet.

This upper door frame paint is gloss paint just like the outside of the car. So treat it like that. Wash it and remove all dirt, use some polish on it and buff it out. It will look much better.
