No numbers behind the drivers head on the block. Pad by dist has D 383 HP. Born 2/2/68. I know most of its history. But I’m wondering if it’s a warranty block. Has single springs with a dampener. Windage tray. It came out of a 68 Chrysler. HP manifolds and dual exhaust factory as well as 4 bbl carb and dual snorkel air cleaner. What’s anyone’s best guess. Thanks. Kim

330 hp in a C body. You might ask about #'s on the C body forum. I'm not sure if they were stamped the same as B bodies.

68 would have numbers but would not be the VIN. They would be the production numbers, should match the body tag right?

They could have a vin if it’s a hp engine they would be stamped across the flanges on the back the block and top of the bell housing. Non HP would have just assembly date, plant etc . The date would be in Julian date code. The pad on the front is the model year, CID , Assembly info like oversized bearings and water testing etc. The non hp engines will not match the vin or so # only hp has the partial vin stamp. The non hp is a date match only.
