Would there be a VIN # on an early 68 block?

It's hit or miss on the earlier blocks but I would check anyway. It should be stamped into the back of the block, right where the bellhousing bolts up (top) and just behind the oil sending unit. It'll be a partial vin and should read something like 8G123456.
