I push the remote mirror knob through the door and upper pad and the threads aren't long enough the get the retainer on. Even if I took the black push nut off I wouldn't have enough threads and the cable holders hit the back side of the panel when you try to move the mirror. So, the push nut needs to stay on. Do the Chargers have their own mirror? All the remote mirrors I've seen are for B bodies in general. Has anybody run across this problem?
Thanks

What chrome nut do you have? As I recall it has a shank that sits into the hole and will grab the threads.

I believe I put the control knob through the door then held it in place by the flat push nut. Then upper door pad.
The chrome trim nut has a slight bevel/neck that barely grab the threads.
I used a small socket like spanner wrench to tighten the chrome nut. The same spanner is used to tighten your ignition switch and antenna bezel.

The nut I have just has a flat back on it, no shank. I would really have to push hard to get the threads to grab.

I'll give that a try. Thanks

There are a couple different style nuts for these mirrors. You may not have the correct one. This is the style you need:
