'68 Coronet Console Shifter Knob Removal

Ok so I loosen/remove this allen screw then what? I am wanting to get the console cover off to remove the entire console assembly.

Got it. There are many questions about this on the internet but only one partial answer that turned on the light bulb. I will post some photos of the parts and the danger of twisting off the cable that runs down the shaft if you get to serious with it for others.

loosen the set screw and turn the knob counter clock wise until it comes off. If it was adjusted right in the first place the cable should never be bottomed it the button. When installing attach the knob and button to the cable and tight till the outside of button is even with the knob top and tighten set screw.
