I just bought a fan shroud for my 68 Roadrunner from Classic industries. It’s only 1 1/2” wide at the top, barely covers the fan blade. Has anyone modified one, added some width to the top surface?

I noticed that mine was kind of thin at the top, 2 inches.
Shroud came with the car but not sure if it’s original for a 68 Charger with a 440.

Well disregard my above post.
I went looking at why my shroud has a gap making it thinner at the top. Looks like previous owner trimmed the top for some reason.

Which one did you buy?

What radiator do you have? My '69 Road Runner has an 26" Champion, was in the car when I bought it, like most aluminum radiators, had to be modified to fit. One of the modifications was to put a thick spacer between the radiator bracket and radiator support at the top, which tips the top of the radiator back. Not sure that I can even use a shroud with this radiator, will find out if it cools this spring when I hope to start and drive it.

I have a 22 inch radiator. I bought an OER two piece shroud from Classic Industries, supposed to be like factory original. Like I said it’s only an inch and a half wide at the top. I just ordered a universal 3 inch wide shroud from Speedway Motors to see if that’ll work better. I have 90 days to return the one to Classic.

My 68 GTX with a 22" radiator originally had a sheet metal two-piece shroud, but after not being
able to find a nice on or a re-pop, I bought a one piece OEM re-pop for a 69 Road Runner that
fits and looks nice. It's made of plastic/fiberglass???? The Flex Fan that I Purchased puts the fan
50% into the shroud with the stock spacer.

Are you using a 2898045 core? If so, from what I'm seeing all 440 cars used the 2 piece metal shroud, 2417423 and 2417427 upper and lower respectively. However, a shroud was only used on 383 cars if a/c or hd cores were used.

When you say core do you mean radiator? When you say HD core do you mean heavy duty? I have the two piece shroud with the numbers that you show above. I’m very leery working on the engine with that radiator fan exposed. I’ve heard too many horror stories of people getting injured when the fan blade let go, hence my desire to put on a shroud.

There's enough engine pics of restored cars out there in internet land. Best fan efficiency is about half to 3/4 in the shroud, as long as the diameter is correct. Flex fans do not move enough air vs a factory fan.
