Any one out there have any info on ignition switch mounting. Entire switch assm. will rotate while cranking when I got the car, kept tightening the bezel but wouldn't hold long. It seems there should be some type of additional mechanism to hold it in place but I don't have it. I had a 68 RR back in the day but never had that problem, so not sure how to deal with it. Any ideas / thoughts would be helpful. I have the ignition switch light and bracket but nothing there to hold the switch.
Thanks.
Dale

Their is a keyway that keeps it from rotating. The ignition switch has a slot (at 12 o'clock I believe), and the mounting hole should have a tab that slides into that slot, so it can only go in one way. Sounds like either the wrong switch or the tab is long gone.

I switched mine out over the winter. Original key/switch was getting some serious wear to the point of having to pick up the key from the back each time it was turned. I got the whole thing from Year One when they had one of their 30% sales. Only thing that was a problem was the threaded ring which I couldn't get it out without tearing the foam dash pad. So I used the old ring with new switch assembly and all works well.

As it turned out, I have the incorrect switch body and some one had ground off the tab. So having the advantage of having the dash on my workbench, I got creative with the bridgeport and a piece of UHMW. Nice and tight now. That Engineering Degree is finally paying off.

I swear the toughest prt of having these cars is overcoming 40 years of previous owners.

People get excited and spend money on paint, chrome and go faster... 10 owners later these cars still have the original wire and switches and brake lines... Or they take it to Sears and they try but the car is neglected.... I spent $600 to fix a $2000 disk brake conversion the last owner paid for.... he only got a mix match of parts... not the complete kit he bought... 99% of shops are rip offs.. and I have been to great shops... best around... if you're family member... they suck for everyone else...
