68 satellite 383 4 speed- bought car a couple months ago. Ran like crap so I a dressed that first. Runs good now but man is it a wonderer. Above 35 mph it is all over the road especially if I switch lanes on a road that has decent crown. The faster I go the worse it is. It's downright scary sometimes. I put it up in the air and checked for anything loose. Nothing is loose. Had buddy turn steering wheel with car in the air and on the ground and there is no play at all anywhere. Steering is very tight and little to no lash. I tried adjusting torsion bars up but it didn't help. I can tell the camber is a bit off because the wheels angle in a bit at the top but I don't think that would make it wonder as much as it is. I'm all out of ideas of what it could be. Any help would be much appreciated.

LOTS of alignment shops in Texas.

The suspension bushings in the front end can be worn out and you might not even know it. If the bushings are all okay, it still might be an issue of improper alignment.
You can make the Road Runner ride and handle far better than they did when new, you just need to spend money in the right places.
You should start with having it checked at an alignment shop, one that you trust or that comes recommended. A proper alignment on a classic car in good condition will track straight without feeling loose and unsafe. From there you can make upgrades if you want, upgrades that will really make the car handle great.

I agree. Start with a good alignment shop. One of my cars was doing the same thing, I got it aligned, problem solved. Good luck

I had this very same issue with my 1969 Sport Satellite. I had the front end examined and it really needed some front end work and the Alignment brought it all together. Today, it drives just like a brand new car, at any speed. Good luck with yours!

Thanks a lot guys! Alignment shop it is! Do most shops still have the specs for these old cars?

Wonderer beats wanderer any day. Firm Feel. Stage 2.

Yup. Its all on the computer. Oldest car i have done was a 59 plymouth suburban wagon a few years back. The specs were in the computer. Your car will need a thorough front end inspection before it even goes on the rack.

They do, but old style alignment specs leave a LOT to be desired.
Tell them you want as much caster as they can get, 1/2 to 3/4 degree NEGATIVE camber and 1/8" toe IN. The caster aids in stability and helps the steering wheel return to center after a turn. Negative camber helps in cornering.
