I have a '69 charger with a clunking inner brake pad. I got the car with the disc brakes already installed and the pads and rotors appear to be from a '69 fury. it has D85 pads on it. The whole setup only has about 300 miles on it, but having installed enough kits, I know that you can get bad parts right out of the box.

Anyway, when rolling the left inner pad rocks back and forth in the the bracket. Step on the brake and it stops. With the brakes released the right front has what i think is the proper light drag between the pad and the rotor. On the left there is a couple thou of air space between the pad and rotor which is allowing it to rock in the bracket.

I've checked three different sets of pads for fit and they all fit the same, and i've checked them left to right and they fit the same. The only thing I can see is that the left side releases a little more than the right. I know I could just glue the pad in, but that's not how I like to do things.

The system has been bled and re bled. the rotors are fresh, and there is no lateral runout.
Any thoughts??

These are the pads. no clips. they sit in a bracket and ride on pins. '69 fury

I'm thinking the piston in the caliper should hold it up against the rotor more.
May not be the pad.

Had to go check the old FSM. Whether you have Budd or Kelsey-Hayse disc they all had anti-rattle spring for inner and outer pads. Just as kryslerkid suggested.
