My 69 charger with all original wiring just developed a short in the dome light cirrut . I replace the fuse and it ok for a while until pops . Usually within 50 miles. I was just wondering if anyone has found a problem spot in the wiring. thanks

Recalling from memory this is also the brake light feed.
Place an incandescent test lamp across the fuse terminals. It will glow bright when a short is presented to that feed.
Open and close the doors and see if it glows bright. Then press the brake pedal.
I'm betting you have a short in the brake light circuit.
Report back what you find.

It could also be in the door jamb switch wiring. If so equipped, also check the glove box and map light wiring.

All good advise above. The dome light circuit is hot all the time, the door switch makes ground. Any rub spots in the wire between the fuse and the bulb that short to ground will cause that problem.

Also could be mice in the headliner.. Had that on a car decades ago from chewing on the wiring harness and bare wires grounded on roof support....

Last car I had that problem with it was the brake light wire under back seat
It blew the fuse ever time I had passengers in the rear seat

I actually found a cracked contact in one of the brake lamp sockets intermittently touching ground.

Had the exact problem years ago, my car had a console and if I moved the wire harness under the dash I could get the fuse to blow. Not wanting to tear into that harness, I replaced the fuse with a breaker that resets itself after tripping.

thanks Ill check into that. where did you get the breaker?

If this is indeed the problem I would fix the harness instead. If you ever saw what's left of a car after a dash fire from a bad wiring harness you'll wish you didn't band aid it...
