69 Charger quarter belt molding

How do I get this piece on?
This is not even close to going on!
Do I need to trim the drip rail?

quarters and drip rail have been replaced

Mine was one continuous piece going along window.
68 Charger, but it should be the same for 68-70.

They are a PITA , put both pieces together and tape your car. Drip gos over it.

Twist up and in,no do not trim drip rail.

I'm thinking the rivet is broken? All the ones I've seen were one piece, as noted above. It should slide in with the belt molding.

They are 2 pieces, its like tong and grove. Very tight to pull apart.
