69 Coronet R/T fire

A couple of hours to clean and replace the engine harness at the shop hourly rare for your area.
No, not rare. I'm just wondering how much time. Couple hours to replace a harness seems, to me anyway, pretty quick. Just adding up the bill to buy and have it repaired, if it's something I want to get into. Ha, yeah behind you in NY.

He meant to time hourly rate but typed hourly rare....for your area.

Thought I'd touch base. I took a shot and bought it. Checked wiring on line from Evans and it looks like about $1400 for all the harnesses. I'm searching for a shop that will take this on at this time. Contacted a few through yelp that will send out what I'm looking for as far as installing the wiring. So far I have four no thanks. So I'll bring it home and keep searching for an electrical shop to do this.

Hey, Bud, it's not really all that difficult. I'm older than you, and this type of job is more thought than physical. It may seem complicated, but if you break down the circuits ( starting, charging, ignition, lighting ) individually, you'll discover it's easier than you think. One circuit at a time.

I just got done repairing a 69 Road Runner that had an underhood fire. I just did the body and paint repair part but this one was right at 60 hours labor.

Age really is not the issue, health is. I wish I could, but I'm still walking with a cane from an accident in June of '24. I can't be on my feet for more than 10 minutes, and then I need to sit because of lower back pain. BELIEVE me, if I could I would, but reality is what it is. I know how to do it, but physically I know I can't. It sucks paying someone to do what you know how, but that is a fact for me today. June, 2024 below.

I'm in my 7th decade. Going under the hood, much less under the dash, is not gonna happen. :( I asked about the wiring under the dash now to see about damage. He says the hood is not warped. Cowl I don't know. The dash and the pad are alright.
I'm 74 and feel like I've been run through a meat grinder!
I'm almost 76, wiring is easy, plug and play. Pull the front seats and steering column if you replace the dash harness. Just finished a total M&H rewire on my Road Runner. To get your engine bay back, really, you need to pull the engine, that's too nice of a car to half *** it. Same with the interior.
If the valve covers or engine got HOT, better check the valve springs, and everything else that melted or burned.
For me, trying to get up from a creeper is a job let alone get up out of a car after laying flat on my bad doing under dash work lol
