69 Coronet R/T options?

I did see an explanation from the "C" crowd it denoted a difference between convex and concave rear windows, but that's it.

Could the meaning change from year to year or when they changed the body style? Just tossing that out as an idea. For instance, N96 basically means a fresh air method, but for B bodies its the underood assembly etc, but on an E, it's a shaker.

The meaning can be different depending on application not necessarily the year. Again XP29 (standard roof for a 66-70 Charger) is different than, for example, an optional roof for a JS29 (1970 SE Challenger) or PH29 (1971 Plymouth full size Fury) or WP29 (71-74 Charger).

My old 69 Coronet R/T. I should have never sold it. Not 100% correct by no means. Just was a nicer cruiser. I added the sixpack and lift off hood.

Fair, but JS29 for a Challenger SE isn't an optional roof though, it's an insert that takes place of the standard window to hold the smaller one for those cars. I think that's where some people were calling out the winged cars since they had an "altered" roof wrt the rear window from a notch to essentially a fast back. Your point is well made though and I appreciate the clarification.

Thanks!

A 70 JS is an optional roof when the buyer had a choice between 23, 27 and 29.
A 70 XS29 is not an optional roof.

Sure, however on an E-Body, the 23 is a hardtop, 27 is a vert (that's what I have BH27 for a Ba) and 29 adds the window insert to a Challenger. There is no difference in the actual roof between a 23 and 29. I'm not even sure if 29 applies to a barracuda.

Not trying to argue and appreciate what you are saying. Bottom line is the 29 doesn't necessarily mean and altered roofline like I had thought.

Thanks

Does having the side scoops on a 69 R/T require or accompany any other options? The car I'm looking at has them and they are supposed to be factory. Or are they a singleton option?

For instance M46 on a Barracuda (little rocker scoops in front of the rear wheel well) also has the lower body blackout treatment.

**29 on A, B, C and E bodies can all mean something different. But, yes, it does not necessarily mean an altered roof line like that source stated.

In the case of a stripe delete, are the R/T badges used on the rear of the quarter stud mounted or adhesive based? If studs, I guess I could "reasonably" say it was a stripe delete car as long as the holes are in the "correct" locations.

Hi Corey,
VIN: WS23L9E116###
According to Galens white book, 6,351 440 4-bbl produced, 4,810 automatic, 1,541 manual trans. Then there are another 97 hemi powered versions.
This is the only Los Angeles, CA built car I have ever owned, so I don't know if anything is different compared to the other factories?
Looked at the title, I actually bought this in 1994 and it has been stored inside (in Colorado) since then, so no new rust since I bought it.
Seems mostly just the trunk had been replaced with flat sheet metal when it was raced. No real changes were made when raced (no roll bar or suspension changes, just removal of factory interior and heater box.) Have all the interior parts except the front seats. ACC carpet, headliner and headliner bows, center console, visors, trim and such.
This car is pretty much dissasembled and was my project car before I got the Convertible.

Some options it has:
Power Bulge Hood
Original Side Scoops (not reproduction)
Standard R/T instrument cluster with the 15 x 10 MPH Speedometer
8-3/4" rear axle. I think 3.23:1 open diff. I'll have to look, likely the 742 case.
11"x3" manual drums (new drums upgraded with 1970 self adjusters and hardware.)
Originally 375 HP 440 with 727, but that was replaced by a prior owner in the late 1970's with a 318 and 4-speed manual for gas mileage.
Still has the manual clutch/brake pedals in the car, but I have the automatic brake pedal assembly to convert it back.
Has manual trans shifter hole in the floor that needs patched.
R/T tail lights with the trim panel with the center red reflector that mimics the design of the tail lights.
No windshield, has all other glass.
Fenders, Hood, Doors, roof, straight with no rust.
Needs trunk, trunk extensions and lower quarters, but have new AMD full quarters, Trunk halfs, extensions.
Been busy being a taxi for the grand kids, but they are leaving for Disney World later this week, so I will have time to get photos.

Thanks bud, as you can see I am educating myself on all things Coronet R/T related. I don;'t want to put something on it that doesn't belong and look like an SS/RS Camaro owner..

Hope they have fun at Disneyland!

440-4 is the Standard engine in Coronet R/T.

Power bulge hood is also standard.

Several of us choose comfort and accessories that can easily be removed and replaced with the factory items the car came with originally.
