69 gtx gas pedal

I have a 69 gtx automatic. Does the gas pedal just rest against the arm ?. The arm has a small hole like for a cotter pin to go through . But my pedal is just tapered curve where it looks like it sits against the arm . No where for a pin in it. I found this rod does anyone know what this is. Thanks for any help

That looks like some sort of shift linkage rod. The 69 pedal hits a roller on the firewall bracket assembly.

Not sure what you mean by rubber bushing on the roller. The roller is just that. It rides on a ramp on the back side of the pedal.
