69 GTX-power steering vs manual?

Hello! I'm David and the new owner of a 69 Plymouth GTX 440/4 speed. Love the car but the power steering on it seems a little touchy at highway speeds, fine at slow speeds. Had thoughts of swapping the power for a manual steering box. Know that will create parking issues but really like a tighter wheel on the road and we plan on driving it a lot. I'd like some thoughts.

How about putting in a stage 2 firm feel box? I have one, it's great.
