Hi all

I just updated our 69 Sport Satellite thread in the Members Resto section and mentioned that we need to transfer the red/white/blue emblem that's on our original door panels to the new Legendary items we bought a year or so ago.

Might be a bit of a long-shot but I thought I'd ask anyway - is there anyone else who's done this on a 69 Sport Satellite or GTX (think they're the only models these were used on) ?

Just wondering what's the best way to remove the old badge/emblem, which is rivetted on, and still be able to re-attach it to the new panel?

We've asked Legendary but in case they cant advise, I though I'd ask the experts too! :icon_wink:

Pre-punched holes in wrong place... predictably :icon_rolleyes:

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance. Rob

One thought is to get the emblems out of the old door panel with the formed rivet heads intact. Drill oversized holes in the new panel so the rivet heads slip through, and then make some kind of clip that is slotted and captures the rivet head. This would be similar to how door locks are held in but the slot would be a lot narrower. A dab of silicon in the hole would keep the emblem from shifting after it was all said and done.

Be careful, once those tabs are broke off on the back side of the emblem they can't be reattached.

Thanks dsd, yes we were thinking of removing it with the old rivet heads intact if at all possible.
It has also been suggested that we remove the rivets & pins completely and attatch the emblem with adhesive tape, as tends to be the modern method of attaching badges & emblems :icon_confused:

Another option would be to grind off the old rivet heads and drill & tap the remaining pin so it can be screwed on from the back of the panel. Steady hand and a keen eye needed for that one

No word yet from Legendary - it would be nice to know what method they had in mind when deciding not to supply a new emblem.... if any
