'69 GTX "Tribute" build from a 318 sports Satellite.

Especially if considering a modern resto mod engine/power train platform. Like a Gen III.

It looks as if a car setup for small block 318 are easier for this type of upgrade.

Not sure if builds can actually be profitable. But you end up with a VERY nice drivable hotrod.

Lesser versions are a better way to do a car project. Cost difference can be hefty and why spend big bucks if you are not going to do a trophy queen numbers matching GTX, RR, Daytona, Hemi Cuda, A12 etc, plus the people wanting to kill you because you went Pro Street/Touring/Donk etc.

For an example, the 70 Challenger I used to have. 318 Western Sport Special, 180k on the odd when I got it. Nothing special car. To me anyway. I did a mashup of T/A and R/T with some Kit Car in the mix. My license plate was SUDOTA, which was for fake Trans AM. In the early 90's I went to a Chrysler Power sponsored show down in Lancaster Ca at the drag strip. I just went there to spectate, ooh and awe etc. As I pulled up to park, they sent me off to the show section. I said I only came to spectate but they said get into the show. Ok. As I'm there, a couple of guys are walking around checking it out. One of them is going ballistic that it was not truly a T/A. His friend pointed out my plate and explained to Mr. Expert what it meant. I wasn't trying to pull it off as one, I just liked some of the styling, like the hood. I also figured out a way to make the a/c, factory a/c on the car, fit with the six pack on the 360 and work. Lots of head scratching there. It was my car, so I did it my way as it wasn't an R/T etc. And I still have the trophy I didn't expect to get since that wasn't my goal.

I just can' twrap my head around what is so Damn important about a "real" car. If you want it to look factory, built it that way. If you want a hot rod, build it that way. Where does anybody have the right to tell me what to build? We don't build by committe. Mr expert probably drove to the show in a Reliant K (original of course).

I'm with ya !! Once you buy a car its yours to do as you please, not as someone else pleases. You have the money and desire to turn a 1 of 5 Hemi Daytona into a Trabant clone ... knock yourself out !!

Price a 30,000 mile B body, paint job, 5.7 with all the swap parts, air graber hood, 833 with all the accessories, tires, wheels, disc brakes, suspension parts. Then if you had to pay to get it done. You would be hard pressed to get it done for that. I do all my own stuff. So zero labor. But parts have gone thru the roof.

Assuming it's truly 4.0+ condition? High $40s is my high. JMO of course.

Which maybe a win compared to a fully restored numbers matching 318 Sport Satellite build.

I'm guessing either direction would take very simular financial commitment. And likely very similar buy price.

The "Win" is the GTX tribute build is better performance and better street "Bling."

If someone was to buy that, they would be money and time ahead for sure. BUT....go over a purchase like that, IN PERSON, with a fine tooth comb. A fresh coat of paint hides things unless you really start looking and go from there. Looking at pictures of a possible purchase like that only is a very bad idea to do a sale from. If you do that work on your own, you know who to point the finger at on issues.

Thanks Doug, my car. Its hard to put a price on anything these days. Was a super hard find to get a survivor B body with no huge surprises! Took along time to find this car. And make what I wanted without ruining an orig GTX.(Even though I think I drilled 2 1/8 holes the entire swap! ) Reserve price is more then fair in my opinion and the buy it now price was to test the waters. Not alot out there for the $$. I put my phone # and lots of pics for anyone to ask questions or come see the car in person. Don't want anyone disappointed.

20+ years ago you would be able to make a few bucks after the cost but that is doubt full any more.
Watching the market and talking to restorers it is mostly high end cars in excess of $100K that it is possible.
Though all classic prices have increased as of late,a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
Collectors Dream Cars is local to me and they have a very pricey inventory.They have been in business for over 10 years so some one is buying them.
Most must be financing thru the dealer. They have 3 nice Chrysler's a 55,56,57 that range from asking prices $28K to $70K
If you look at their web you can see the 300 letter cars bring way more than the 55 Windsor.
Just my 2 cents.
