69 ralley dash ash tray vs non ralley ??

Anyone know the noticeable difference between a 69 Charger ralley dash ash tray vs 69 Road Runner non ralley dash ash tray ?

Nobody ?? Anyone have a few pic's of their ash tray from a 69 Charger or 69 Road Runner ? The top lip would be a good place to start, Thanks I A

Ive been wondering about this too. Long ago in high school when I bought my 69 Charger, it had no ash tray. I went to the local salvage yard and bought an ash tray door out of a base 69 Coronet because it was tan in color like my interior. Fit just fine. Didnt even consider the 68 Charger they had because it had black interior. Now I hear they are different but havnt had the time to compare to the other Charger trays I have around here.

Very slight difference in rallye vs. non rallye. If you look very close you will see on rallye there is a very slight witness line in center of part top to bottom. Two angled surfaces meet in center of ashtray. The non rallye ashtray is a single flat surface. You may need to put one side by side to see the difference.

here's not great view of a 69 RR none ralley dash didn't come out till 70 in a RR

Heres the two I have side by side. The black one from a 68 Charger, the gold one from a standard dash 69 Coronet. I see the faint line in the middle on both. My green 68 Charger ash tray is the same as these two. I dont know what to think anymore.

Compare the actual ash receptacle size you will see a difference is shape and size between the two if you have a rallye and non rallye.

These two I posted are identical in apperance and measurements in the ash receptical and have the same part number as on my 68. The ones I have must all be for the rally dash.

I've been following along as I have extra ashtrays.
They are all the same width, and the 68, 69 rally, non rally, interchange between each other and all hinge mounts.
So what am I missing?

Looks like the ralley is all flat and has about a quarter inch(?) gap between the lid and frame along the whole length versus the non ralley that has a ridge where it follows the curve of the lower dash pad? The ralley lid looks to be shorter? Can't really tell.

I investigated further versus going from memory (not so good anymore). Differences are minute so you have to look carefully at pictures.

1) Rallye dash ash tray is slightly shorter in overall height. less than 1/8"
2) Rallye dash ash tray has a narrower top edge. the edge with the semi circle. It is about half the thickness of the non rallye.
3) The receptacle is the same. They will fit in either dash. However, the fit-up is not great when incorrectly interchanged.
4) Rallye dash ash tray has pronounced rib/line up the middle.

Your pictures appear to show two 68-69 rallye (blue & tan) and one 70 rallye (black). I do not think any of these three are 68-69 non rallye.

Ok. I see a difference in them now. The two I posted appear to be non rally. They have the thicker inside edge and are 1/8" taller than the one in my 68 Charger.
