Hey all,

I am trying to get my Road Runner out for a couple shows. Over the winter I added power windows and during that project the drivers side latch/striker relationship went south. As I remember it was not ever that great and that side was VERY hard to get to latch when the body work was done in 95-96. I am comparing this to the passengers side which functions beautifully. I do have an extra drivers side latch assembly, but it looks about as bad as the one in the car. Does anyone know of a nice one for sale? Or does anyone offer reproductions?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Is it the latch, or the driver's door haning poorly due to wear on the hinges? That is common, since the driver's door gets the most use.

I really don't think it is the hinges, they were all replaced when I had it painted. It was a while ago, but it's seen limited use. The latch just looks and feels beat up to me, and like you said the drivers door has seen the most use.

Thanks

OK, I just saw the addition of the power windows and that is extra weight in the door. Hinges might need some tweaking now. If you are so inclined, check the alignment simply by pushing the door closed until it is about 1/2"-1" from being latched. The contour lines on the door should line up closely with those on the car without the door being latched, and not be sagging below the body's contour lines.

take the striker off & then close the door & check the body lines. then adjust the door.

I too put power windows in and think there is actually less weight. Power windows is a non related issue in my opinion. I put pins in when it was painted and the door is sagging again 24 years later. The right Mopar person will solve your problem.

I never thought about this, I took it off and the door looks pretty good but there is some interference with the roof rail weather stripping that I just replaced.
