Good morning! Wondering if anyone has the data or a link as to the date codes on the holley on the 383 ac cars. My buildsheet has a date of 11/24/68. I assume perhaps I should check date code of engine to see how far away they are. It is numbers matching but I have 3 holleys and want to get closest. Would it be closest to the date tag on the dizzy? Carbs stamped with yr mo wk

What is the build date of your engine? I would assume you would want it a month or 2 before that?

Ok cool. I’ll have to get back out to the car and see. For fun I’ll get the pan rail, dizzy block and casting. I’ve got to get this girl out and listed before I bring the road runner home

A 69 road runner 383 comes with a Carter AVS, not a Holley.

You have the broadcast sheet so look up what carb it came with.

It came with 38. Number 4440 Holley 4160. Listed on the second image you posted. Thank you!
I was under the impression the carb bodies were date coded all the way down to the week from a search I did on Holley codes is all

247th day of 1968 Dom. (Sept 4). (Or 78, 88, 98. 68 is 100% more likely however).
And 69 runners came with both carters and holleys, four barrels and two barrels (three). But you knew that....
(Holley four digit date code is first three digits, day of the year, last is which year of the decade).

I thought Holley date codes were 3 digits when that car was made. I think all 4 digit Holleys were made after that car.

Factory installed Chrysler Holley date codes were 4 digits for 1967 and up.

I was on a FB page on Holley carbs. date stamps came up and I made the claim that they were 4 digits, 3 for the day and last for year. Ohh boy! I was chastised like none other. Turns out the other holleys are in the 60's are only 3 digits.

Learn something maybe the hard way. These people questiond my moral / religious values and insulted my entire family a few generations back. Love internet thought guys huh? LOL

Ok, good, I learned something. I have a couple of 70 Road Runner carbs I think and saw the 4 digit dates and thought they were replacement carbs. I knew my 65 Race Hemi carbs were 404 and thought all Holleys were 3 digits until the early 70's.

Wow - I didn't expect to learn that '69 383s could have a Holley !
Thanks for saving me a lot of money had I bet against that with someone.
(I'm not being sarcastic: I've probably owned 6-7 original '69 RRs - with & without AC, Calif & 49-state, 4-speed & AT - and every one had an AVS.

330hp 383s with a/c should be turquoise with a holley
335hp engines should be hemi orange, with an AVS.

At least that's the info I've got.

My '69 AC Road Runner - dead original CA car, St Louis build - had the turquoise 330HP engine and an AVS.
A buddy had the same deal ('69 RR 383 w/AC - turquoise & AVS), though I don't recall his car's assembly plant.
My non-AC '69 RRs all had orange 335HP engines - so I'm very familiar with the color & HP ratings, but the Holley thing for '69s is news to me.
