picked up a 69 standard sat. with a built 360 in it and a RR hood. I have the original numbers matching 318 as well.

car was painted black over the original green about 20 years ago. black interior. other than fresh paint, it really doesn't need anything else right now (knock on wood). body is A+

i don't really want a green car but thought i'd look for advice on whether i should paint it black or just take it back to original. it is a standard satellite so long term value isn't the driving factor here but just a minor consideration.

appreciate any input. also, any advice on paint shop in socal, i'd be thankful. looking for driver (not show) quality but done right.

thanks.

Good question and an "Age Old" question.....

First off, Green was the #1 color requested for cars in 1968 and 1969.

Now, do you like green?
If so keep it.

If not paint it.

I get the impression you are not keen on green from you statement: "i don't really want a green car but thought i'd look for advice on whether i should paint it black or just take it back to original".

I just picked up a Pontiac, its Green and I LOVE it!

PS: Not my house.

yeah, i'm not too keen on green but i do like keeping things original if possible.

i am going to run the non original motor and RR hood (but keep the numbers matching engine too).

it is just tough to spend all that money on paint and not to go with the correct (albeit ugly light green) color.

that said, it is Satellite so I'm thinking original vs. not won't really impact the value much like it would if it were a desirable vin (RR or GTX)

if your painting check out all the colors! this is factory color and looks pretty good in 69 body2016 rr tear down parts pics 040.jpg

personally I can take or leave the color green my 69 rr was originally light green f3 I think is the code which does nothing for me & with the darker green inserts f7? on the interior so i reversed them in the hopes of keeping the car somewhat correct with it being a #'s car & not getting into a total color change. on the other hand if it was a satellite or a nothing special high value value car I would just make it how ever you would like it to be but hopefully with period correct colors if your trying to keep it some what original looking.
