Does anybody know if they ever put an 8.25 rear end in a 69 sport satellite with a 318 engine in it,every thing I found says it should be an 8.75 but the guy who sold it to me said it was an 8.25 how do i tell if its an 8.75?thanks aton

If it is a 8 1/4 it has a removable rear cover!Never seen or heard of one in a bbody, someone put it there.moparsteve

I had a 8.25 in my Coronet 1970 original 318 904 I guess all B-body 69-70 with straight 6 and 318 904 had it, the 8 3/4 was to expensive to fabricate thats why they replaced it.

Actually the 8.25 was quite common. Ive got a couple laying around out of 68-70 b's. Not the strongest will hold up to most small blocks (mild not 600 horse.)

I have a 8-1/4 here are pics for comparison.

Driveshaft should be 0.66" shorter I guess thats the only thing thats not the same.

Also need to confirm its from a similar b body. It changes between a, b, e, etc bodies as far as width and mounts for your suspension. Even some b's are different. I have a rear from a 71-74 station wagon b body thats almost 5 inches wider. Just double check all your measurements.

Thanks to all of you, just as one more question what can i use to clean the rust off the 8.75 rear end that I have I would say its as rusty as the pic above, thanks alot as always!

Ben , better break out hte sandblaster for that rust.

would a decent palm sander work? and if so what grain paper should i use,any input would help, thanks.

I think I would use a good wire wheel on a 4" grinder before a palm sander.

That was actually gonna be my next question! should I use a brass wire wheel? or does it matter?

Well hopefully that means I do have an 8.75, if I do have 2 after all, maybe I will put one up for sale on here, thanks alot for all your help as usual u all are awesome

I had a 69 318 Charger (wish I had it back) and it had a 2.71 8.25".

Just get yourself an el cheapo harbor freight blaster and go to town.
