70 bee billet grill

Ford tried this shape on the front of a car and it wasn't very well recieved.
So maybe --two-- of these shapes would be better??
I really liked the grill of the 69 coronets from day one but the change to the next year model was a bit of a shock that I never got over.

I think it looks similar to a 66 or 67 gto. But more attractive with side by side headlights instead of over/under. Also I think the fact that they are wider at the edges than in the center resembles beeswings. I have this discussion with many people. They didn't appeal to me at first but they grew on me and I like them now. I plan on having a Bee from 68 69 and 70. I want to put a c-stripe on the 69 just to see what it looks like.

I bought a 69 bee new (I was 19)--and think that helped imprint that look in my head. It's hard to say that I would not be a big fan of the 70 grill had I been born one year later.---(I think not though) My taste in cars came earlier.
A bit later I bought 300C. Now this car had a FACE on it.
It was very different then the rest of chryslers "faces" in the day but I don't recall their being a big thumbs down about the look.
BTW mine was black and ---the car I regret selling the most.

It's almost 60 years ago--eek---the hemi that made the hemi name it is. The 392.

Wanna get SICK.........last YEAR I MADE A DEAL WITH A 80 YEAR OLD MAN TO BUY THIS 392, when I went back to pick it up he said he changed his mind. Never do a deal with a friendly hand shake even the old fucks will screw you over!!!

That sucks! I've learned my lesson, have the cash in hand & be there ready to take it...I have given people time to think about a deal and they usually end up talking to a "buddy" that convinces them they could get 3 times the amount we agreed on or that it's a super rare part...

Well --when the "old ****" (finally) moves out of the way of all of his stuff. -- One will have to deal with another nervous/reluctant seller of a different type. Selling the same stuff.
Prospecting can be fun and gems can be found--but banking on it is like buying a loto ticket.

I always though the grilles looked like the Bee's goggles on the Super Bee emblem.

My Bee was FY1 Top Banana yellow with black top and bee stripe.

It looked just like the emblem.

...and I maintain that width of rear tire and number of doors have everything to do with the way a 70 Coronet looks.

I had a Coronet 440, and a Bee, they both were painted between bumpers. Maybe the higher end R/Ts or 500s were chrome. They all had the chrome piece. The ones that are painted just have a painted piece over the chrome. I suspect some people removed the painted piece because they liked the chrome better. (That's just a long way of saying "I don't know".)

I think that's backwards- the chrome piece goes over the painted piece.

The last explanation I though plausible was that all had chrome but some were lost over the years.
(and they seemed to have factory literature to back that up)

I personally think they look better with body color between the bumpers

The chrome piece was heavier and bolted to the bumpers. The painted piece was lighter and was riveted over the chrome piece. My guess is they could paint it with the rest of the car, then pop it on the bumper during assembly. That way the bumpers could all be assembled and ready to install without having to be designated for a specific car.

Paint-scheme and wheel selection. Not a fan of painted wheels with 70 Coronets. Twin snorkel scoops with a lemon twist or plum crazy paint job with c-stripe and rallye or magnum wheels look nice.

I love the 70' B body Dodge. She's much maligned just like the 62' model, which I love also.
