I found this site about a week ago and joined today so I decided to intorduce myself and my car.

My car is a 1970 Charger R/T V-code, F8 Green. I bought it about 6 years ago and it needs some work, but overall is in decent condition for a project. Most parts from what I can tell are able to be restored and reinstalled back into the car. I plan on a mostly stock restoration.

The engine and trans are not original. The sixpack setup looks like it is 1969.5 setup as it is an Edelbrock aluminum intake.

I found three build sheets when I took the car apart. One of them was mine but part of it had deteriorated and another portion was stained black from the body sealer on the floor. Also the fender tag is missing. I would like to track down previous owners to see if any of them have it, but of course privacy laws make that difficult. I have thought about contacting Galen and seeing if he has any info on my car.

The front parts of the floorpan are rusty and the trans tunnel was butchered. It has the standard rusted trunk floors also. The frame rails and most of the rest of the body look good. There is only some minor patching in a couple more areas.

I have two projects to work on ahead of this one, so it will be a few more years before I dig into this car further. One is a racecar, and the other will be a full restoration. Both should give me the skills I need to do my Charger the right way.

welcome.i used to have a red 70 charger r/t.got any pictures?

Welome.

My brother has THREE 1970 V code Chargers and sold a 4th one a few years back.
He has a green one also that is FF4 light green metallic and a one year only color.

I believe he would like to sell it if you know of anyone looking to buy.

I will have to look on my old laptop tonight to see if I have other pictures. The last paint job someone did was horrible. It's the right color, but it has runs and bands of lighter and darker colors. It is not very photogenic.

Hi, Welcome. You can`t go wrong on this site!Lots of good people ,lots of good info.
Just so you know, some 70 six packs did have the aluminum intake 3412046 factory ,made for Chrysler by Edelbrock. When you do get into it check your rods to see that they`re 2951908 as 69 1/2 were not as meaty. Also check for knotched pistons.
I`d love to see some pics!

Unfortunately the block is not the original block. I am not sure what guts are in the block. Don't sixpacks have an extra weight behind the balancer? If so I have what looks like a second balancer. If anyone has a picture to verify, that would be awesome.

All of my paperwork is in Texas and I am in a hot sandy place so unfortunately I don't have all of my information. My car was built in November 1969 so I guess it could have an early Edelbrock aluminum version before Chrysler switched the the 70 iron intake.

I did find a post on another forum I made years ago that has as many options as I could possibly read from my build sheet. Here is what the raw data is and what someone did for a translation of each option. Some numbers are partial due to damage or black filler stains making the print unreadable.

I think I just figured out what Dana 60 rear is actually in the car. The rear pinion gear is 2538936. If the car came stock with F70 X 14 tires they are 26.2 inches tall. That would mean it is the correct gear for 3.54 gears. If so I have the Track Pack.

****Decoded Numbers and comentary****

Steering Wheel- _8|F.....I believe this would read 08 (Partial Horn Ring Steering Wheel) F8 (Dark Green Steering Wheel)

Pin-36......this is the speedometer pinion gear....yours is part number 2538936 with 36 teeth and is red.

Body Paint-FF_.....this is likely EF8 Dark Green Metallic paint

Paint Style- V01-Monotone paint.....all Chargers had V01 Mono paint....two tone paint was not available .

VDF COlor- EF8-Dark Metallic green....this is actually UDF (Upper Door Frame) paint...yours was same as your body paint...Dark Green Metallic.

Suspension-5.....this would be a 5 under the S1 box indicating S15 (Extra Heavy Duty Suspension)

Shocks-5.....this would be a 5 under the S2 box indicating S25 (Firm Ride Shocks)

Sway Bar-1....this would be a 1 under the S31 box indicating S31 was added (Heavy Duty Sway Bar)

Horn Ring-9....this would be a 9 under the S7 Horn Ring box indicating S79 (Partial Horn Ring)

Power Steering-7....this would be a 7 under the S7 Power Steering box indicating S77 (Power Steering)

Glove Box-1...this would be a 1 under the J11 box (Glove Box Lock)

Cigar Lighter-1.....this would be a 1 under the J15 box (Cigar lighter in ashtray)

brakes-29....this means Front Disc Brakes

Roof PNT/Style Top-V1F-Full vinyl top green....Yes

Stripe-V6_ -Logintudinal stripe but what color?......this should be on your fender tag as well.....in order of likelyhood it's V6F (green), or V6W (white), or V6X (black) or V68 (stripe deleted).

1/ Panel w grain-4.....that's an "I" for "Instrument" Panel....thus J64 woodgrain instrument panel

rr heater or def-31 -rear defrost?....that would be H31 Rear Defogger

oil pressure guage-6.....F96 Oil Pressure Guage

ft heater or a/c- 21 or 11 not 100% readable....that would be H11 (Front Heater)....if it's H51 then you have Air Conditioning & Heater

Table on build sheet
car HT 1 2 3
_ _ 6 65 05 64 The car height is likely BP5 (standard car height)....the other 3 codes are for special parts....each is the last 2 digits of a part number....this is not unique, most Chargers have codes here.....however figuring out what the mean is an excercise in futility. I've tried on others with no luck....the preverbial needle in a haystack.

shock ft-56 rr-unreadable.....the front socks would be 56 and the rears would be 92...they are supposed to be the last 2 digits of the shock part numbers.

fender hood turn ind-1...this is L31 Hood Mounted Turn Signal Indicators

Here are a few more pictures from a couple years ago. I have most of the small parts stripped from the car in these pictures and stored. I sanded some of the paint by hand to see how much bondo, or other crap could be under the quarters. Until I media blast the entire car I won't know for sure. It could be ugly under all of that paint, but I will have the time to play with it in the future.

Excuse my yard, my dog made it his domain.

I think AMD is going to be my friend with this car.

My dog is a poor guard dog.

welcome, pics? oops, sorry, on dial up (via Blackberry) and pics took long to load, I see **** pics!

Wow, I love the 70 models, esp in that color Green! My 300 is that color, and it's a 70 also! I see you said 'Media Blast', I love those words, and I see you're in TX, hey, I know a good Media Blaster in TX, that also loves MOPARS! And, know a good MOPAR shop here too that does tons of MOPARS!

Welcome, Sixpack. Nice car! I read on your website that it was at the '83 Chevy...er...Car Craft Nationals. I went to that show in '82. It was held in Illinois, back then.

**** pics? Ooops forgot to make those private! j/k!

If I am still in Texas in the next couple of years I would like to hear about this media blasting place. Most places around me are very Chevy centric!

I think this car needs media blasted to the bare metal. I want to make sure I know exaclty what I am dealing with and how much metal truly needs to be replaced. I am using my Falcon as my test vehicle for a few metal repairs, bodywork, and painting. I probably won't keep the Falcon forever. I want another Mopar B body in the garage and there isn't enough space for everything. If I screw something up, it is significantly cheaper to repair on the Falcon.

I will probably do a full restoration on my 69 Mach 1 prior to the Charger for similar reasons that I will be working on the Falcon first. I would like to do a rotisserie restoration on both the Charger and Mach, I just have to make sure they are mobile enough to transport when the Army moves me around again. You should see the looks on the movers face when I show them engine blocks and car parts to move!

Hey Six pack; SFC Donald Buswell, USA (retired) here, let me guess, Ft Hood? I spent 10 yrs in that place! 2-5 Cav, 2-8 Cav, 21st Replacement, 3rd Sig Bde. Media Blasting; that's me. Check out my site for more pics/info.

I laughed the first time I saw your signature and it said My Motor Pool. My home station is Fort Hood. Not sure how long I will be there when I return. I might see about what jobs are available for me when I return. Fort Sam is not a bad place to be either.

After looking at your pictures on your site I know plastic media blasting is the way to go. All of the nasty green needs to go! The only part I would be worried about is the door sticker. Are those replaceable? How long does it take you to strip a B-Body?
