70 Roadrunner Column to Floor Shift

Is it possible to modify my 3 speed automatic on the column to a 4 speed on the floor ? Can I use the original console shifter or does it have to be an aftermarket shifter? what about shifter linkage? Will my existing bench seats work with a console or does that require bucket seats?

I would like to change it to a 4 speed floor shifter but want it to look stock. Really don't want an aftermarket shifter and I like my bench seats.

Changing from automatic to four speed is done all the time. The console won't fit with a bench seat but I've seen a couple of custom cut down consoles used like that. The factory used a floor shift without console with bench seats and either way you'll need to add the shifter hump to the transmission tunnel, install a clutch pedal which also used a different brake pedal. You can make it look stock like this:

I disagree. Swapped my console auto for a 4 speed last summer. It's like driving a different car. SO much more fun !!!!
