that is what i was originally going to do, but the mounting studs were so long that it made it difficult to sight it in to the right spot for an accurate placement. so i thought well maybe there is a spec or template for this somewhere, which i,m sure there is but problem appears to be finding it. oh well, if i dont find anything in the next couple of days ,i,ll sight it in, and if its not quite there i can elongate the holes slightly.(I hope) because if there is a way to screw it up i will.
Use a piece of thin cardboard. Place the studs on the cardboard & mark the circle around the studs. Cut/drill the holes on the cardboard. Now stick the studs through the holes. Scribe the outline of the part on the cardboard. Cut the outline. Now place the cutout cardboard on the car where you want it to go. Mark your holes on the car. First drill with a small bit, the go to the proper diameter. With a small artist brush, hit the hole with zinc primer.
I've been meaning to get the measurements for those holes myself. So just now I got the old scoop that I had cut off and took some pictures. Not the clearest (should have used white tape) but I think you can see where the holes go.
thanks for the measurements, but I do have a question about how the measurements were taken. On the 1 5/16 and the 1 3/8 are they measured like with steel rule strait across from the center of the hole to the top edge of the scoop. or did you put the tape in and mark the center point of the hole and the top of the scoop. then remove the tape and place it on a flat surface and measure between the lines.
Sorry, I see how that isn't clear because of the surface curves. I used a flexible tape and kept it pressed to the metal for those measurements. I also should have mentioned that the holes are centered vertically, with 1 1/2" distance from the top and bottom ridge, also with the same flexible tape.
thanks. with all of the great info i,ve gotten on this i shouldnt have too much trouble locating the mounting holes on the panel. Wont be able to get to it till next week. I,ll be in pocatello for the next 4 days. the american legion baseball team my son plays for has qualified for the state tournement there. I,ll try and post some pics when I get the scoop mounted. go Emmett Blue devils!!!!
I was going thru some of my old threads and saw that i never did thank you photon 44 for the pics with the measurements for the side scoops. i finally got around to using them and it worked good thanks again.
