OK GUYS.i put new door weatherstip on today and doors will not shut.doors closed perfect until i put the weatherstrip on.seems the bottomof the doors is whats not letting it close all the way. weatherstrip came from classic industries. this was first weatherstrip put on doors since paint

if you aligned the doors with no weather strip in place you may have gotten them too close to the body at the hinge.if the weather strip looks right, then try some small adjustments there to see if they will shut.may take a good push with new strips.can you take a pic of the closed door(no weather stip)at the latch end?how are your body lines?

OK, I'm not sure what the name of the stuff is in the USA, but we call it Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. It's the stuff that was used years ago for putting on babies to prevent nappy (diaper) rash. Rub a thin layer of that stuff on your door rubbers, and close the door ....after a few days, the rubbers would have softened up enough to close easier. Then simply clean off the residue with hot soapy water, and that will help the problem.

I have done this myself and it works very well.

I know its weird but I am a Mopar fan but have worked on the assembly line at GM for 19 yrs. This is how we fit are doors. Loosen the striker up just enough for it to move but not sloppy. Slam the door shut, when the door latch latches, carefully open the door then torque the striker back down. The striker should of self aligned.

well i got the drivers side shut and im gonna leave it shut a few days.im gonna try the vaseline thing tomorrow. i had perfect body lines until the weather strip. he strker self alignment would work for shuttin the door but door body line would be out.thanx guys.

you can also heat up the Vaseline and make it liquid and brush it on, a bit less messy.
