71-74 Door Panel ... Whoops!

My Mexican upholstery guy charged $75.00 US funds to restore the four interior panels of my '72 SSP (parts and labor). I gave him a foto of a Road Runner door so he could try to duplicate it (more or less). When I arrived home with the finished panels, I took some fotos and found the driver and passenger doors don't have the same design/style. The last foto is what I gave him as a guide.

I would say he missed it completely and should do them right for you.

Should of bought factory re pops.cheap is expensive.I would be pissed.

I would be very upset that the assembler didn't match patterns for both sides.

I know they are expensive but I would highly recommend that you buy the reproduction ones in that style. I did because these are the first things that anyone sees when they get in your car and you have to look at them when driving. I bought the deluxe version for my car and was very pleased with the results and that was with me doing them myself. It is hard to tell in the picture but it looks like he didn't get the bottom part of the back ones level either so when you put them on its not going to fit right. If you do end up ding them yourself, I would be happy to give you some of my experiences of the process. Its not hard but you want to make sure to take your time. I was not upset at all for some reason, just a small glitch that has several viable solutions. It is the first thing seen, so I will take corrective action.

I just had mine done and picked them up from the upholstery shop a week ago. The shop had them for 7 weeks. they had them in the box from Legendary, same box that was sent to me. Got home and opened the box only to see mine had no cut out for the remote mirror or they didn't cut out for the window cranks in the rear. So I had to take them back then they had them for over a week until Tuesday. Can't wait to get them to my car

I changed my mind, I am going to install the door panels the way I received them. I will just make a game of it for now, see if anyone even notices. I can always change/switch/upgrade door panels, it's the easiest part of the restoration. Or the next owner can do it.

Another alternative is to buy nice used.

I got a very nice set of 74 SSP uppers from a member here for $200.

Used panels for factory colors good idea, my seats are "camel", probably not a factory colored fabric.

There were two tans used in 73/74 one light, one dark.
I have a complete set of uppers in light and a set of rears in dark...

but they are Dodge and might not be nice enough for you.
