My brother in law has a 71 Cuda with a slant 6 in it. He wants to take it out and replace it with a SB, The guy that put his frame rail in, driver side after going in a ditch and messed it up some said being the frame rail being replaced it wouldn't be a good idea to add that weight.
I told him if that guy knows what hes doing it should be as good as new, maybe im wrong there but i don't think so. He asked me if i would find out if he has to change the K-frame to put a SB in and replace the slant 6. So thats my question, i added what the repair guy said to get your opinions on if what he says is true, seems if one who replaces these frame rails it should be as strong as ever, if it was done properly. Thanks.

Yeah if the guy did it properly it will be stronger than the factory rail! and Schumacer sells the /6 to SB engine mount kit no need to swap K member! I was going to say also a SB does not weigh that much more than a /6 anyway!! lol sounds like the guy is questioning his job!! BTW why take the /6 out? lol how many 71's are running with a factory /6 setup!!!! TURBO IT!!!!!

Thanks bud! Ill show this to him I told him basically the same but i wasn't sure about the K member, That is what the guy is probably doing, i don't know if hes the same guy that did the body a few years ago but its in need of some serious body work and paint. I asked him why not keep the 6 but he said its not the original 6 and the guys up town call him the six cylinder man.. I told him to just ignore it hes riding around in his Cuda all the time while the same guys have there car parked most of the time because of gas prices. Those slant six engines are a good engine but im not going to try to talk him out of it, Thanks again.
