I have a 1971 satellite with a 318, 904, and 8.25 rear end. I am putting in a 70's 360 along with a 727. I'm keeping the 8.25 rear end. Could i used my original Drive Shaft with the correct Yoke after i have it shorten? What i really need to know will the U Joint be the same size for the Yoke and Drive Shaft?

Correct you will have to have the shaft shortened or find the correct size for a for the 727. You will also need a 727 slip yoke for the trans, the 904 one won't work. The U-Joint size of the yokes or shaft ends won't really matter in relation to each other because you can purchase a u-joint from your local auto parts if you need to that has a 7260 (small size) and 7290 (large size) on the same u-joint so it will work with either one. If you do decide to try to find a correct length shaft let me know i may have one i have a lot of used shafts.

The 904 is the issue for interchange. It has a smaller spline count and the tailhouse is shorter than the 727. The U joint size ie 7260 "small" is common for both slip yokes.

I have a driveshaft from a 71 Charger 727 8 3/4 car if your interested.

If you do have one that will work, yes please let me know thanks

If you think it will work yes please let me know. I have the 8.25 rear end will that matter?
i dont think it should matter but am not 100% on that. Someone here shoudl know.

8.25 and 8.75 are equals in driveshaft lenght. Think he needs about a 53.25 - 53.50" long shaft. His existing shaft likely is about 56-57"
Old rule; measure twice, cut once. New rule, valididate crap you read on the web, even my posts.
