72-74 RR speedometer needle take-off

Morning, I have a speedometer that I would like to put a new decal on. Can anyone help me to understand how one gets the speedo needle off of the stem so I can get the decal on?
How were they put on?

They just pop off, I use an old dinner fork to remove them just be gentle

On a 69 Coronet speedo needle I just pulled gently at the base of where it attaches. There's a needle like protrusion from the speed that the needle sits on. Yours is newer so it may be different.
