Hi does anyone know if a 71 roadrunner rear valance fits on a 72. I need one for my 72 but they only make one for a 71. Is there much difference, can it be made to work?

No, the 71 rear valance will not work at all or be made to work on a 72 unless you graft the top corners of the 72 val to the 71.

I am in the same boat. I have 2 72 valances, one w/ cutouts and one w/o. I may attempt to add the cutouts to the one w/o the cutouts. Another option is to buy the 71 valance and graft the tops of the 72 val to it to make it work.

I have never looked, is the 72 valance taller in the middle or shorter on the ends than a 71 valance

The 72 valance is taller in the middle than the 71 valance. This is due to the fact that the 72 bumper drops down on the ends for the larger taillights.

In fact, I mispoke earlier when I said you would have to graft the ends of a 72 valance onto a 71 to make it work on a 72. You would actually have to graft the center section of a 72 valance onto a 71 valance to make the 71 work on a 72.

And I just looked at the valances I have and they use different mounting brackets also.

Here is a pic of the tops showing how the 71 is straight across and the 72 sticks up in the middle and also of a pic of tip VS non tip valance

Those are some good, clear picts of the valances and my idea of grafting the top, middle of the 72 val onto the 71 will not work because of the differences in the mounting brackets on the 71 val. The 72 valance you show looks new, where did you find a new 72 valance?

I actually have 2 NOS 72 rear valances, I have had them for years now.

Nice-looking job.

I've got a '71 rear dual cutout that I can't unload thanks to the aftermarket. :(

Sadly, I'm keeping the '72 rear end, so I'll have to follow your lead, unless AMD pops out a '72.
