I know this is going to come off sounding like a knock against you but by removing the side moldings and the Argent bottom you took the best part of a 1 year model away.
Your car looks GREAT but no one is going to think they are looking at a SSP even with the emblems there.

Great another SSP comes out of the woodwork!!!!!
Please don't clone it, these cars are unique in there own right. I am against color changes but this car would look better in a different hue.
Put wheels on it as stated already and enjoy it.
The side molding is something I am always looking for, few and far between.
I even bought some NOS right side pieces a month ago but when they got here so much was bent and broken I ended up with one useable piece. Luckily I have all my original and a little more but want to try and find some perfect pieces.
My first SSP was a 400 4 speed in Black w/white top and interior but is now a clone living in the Midwest.
I bought this 400 4bbl auto w/air and windows this year. It was still in original paint but triple Black so I gave it it's first paint and a White Canopy top and have all new White interior to install also so as to recreate the first one sort of.

so, i gotta ask, do you have any of the ssp trim left ???

Welcome to the site...good folks here. Nice car, where are you in Florida? Where did you find the car?

Lakeland, Fl. Believe it or not, I found it on CL in the daytona area

I knew your car had to be a fairly early build with the Pentastar on the bottom of your right fender.

:902: Build Date: September 02"

yea , i think Sept 2, 1971

Welcome! Nice car! As stated several times before, change the wheels/tires and enjoy the car.

Sweet car! Like most here, I'd leave it as is with minor mods...wheels, 4bbl carb & intake. Give the paint a good polish and after that just enjoy it on the road.

If you can, give us some more pics of the car, i.e. interior, engine bay, etc.

here are a couple more shots..

73swingerdart... any chance you have any of the ssp trim you took off of yours???

Nice! There are some things you can do to it, but my hard learned advice is don't do anything that keeps you from driving and enjoying the car for more than a short period of time. Took mine down to start "quick" resto-mod 5 or 6 years ago now. Beware the "mod bug". :)

Welcome to the addiction! Please no cloning. Throw on a nice set of 15"x7"s(15"x8"s on rear??) Rallys on it, with some beefy BF Goodys on the rear, like 255/60-15 and a set of 215/70-15 up front. Watch your back spacing on those rear ones, fenders on those years are limited on the top side. May want to dress up the engine compartment. Detail/polish it if needed. You can always add a little extra as you go. DRIVE IT AND ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! That's just my opinion. Hope you gather enough info from all us fanatics..me included to help your decision.

i really appreciate everyone's input ! thinking cloning may not be such a good idea!

Oh, and can anyone tell me how to hang these blasted should straps to the roof hook things !!

I just want to chime in after purchasing a SSP this week (with the lower body molding already removed by previous owners). I have tried and tried to fall in love with the look of the SSP factory molding but it always seems to me like something that is just ready to fall off! I'm sorry, I think it was a design error from the start from an aesthetic viewpoint anyway

Don't listen to these no-hopers!! Clone the living daylight out of it!!

Ditch that putrid colour, toss that poxy molding crap, lose some badges, add a tuff wheel and some Rallyes. You don't have to go the full clone route, but go halfway at least :)

jprather i might be getting an extra drivers rear quarter molding in a couple of days i'll see what it looks like . if you didnt know this those are in 3 pieces front is about 12 3/4 long, middle goes over fender and has about 3 in. of curve on each end , back piece is 23in. long with high ridge a bottom for drivers side . Do you have any of the 3 pieces that are still staight? Send me a pm t.wiens
